What you'll be doing
- Performs a variety of tasks such as, shaving and transporting patients, assisting with positioning of patient for procedure, care and handling of all equipment, assisting with the ordering, receiving, and stocking of supplies, performing clerical tasks and completing errands. Creates a safe, private environment for patient, family/significant other, visitors and members of the health care team. Works in a collaborative manner in addressing patient care issues maintaining open communications with the charge nurse. Supports the charge nurse in ensuring the delivery of safe, high quality, cost-effective holistic patient care. Maintains current knowledge of technological advances within area of practice as well as in surgical services. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population. Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).
What your background should be
- Minimum experience 6-12 months of nursing assistance, emergency medical technician experience or equivalent. Registration BCLS certification within one year. Physical demands prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking. Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients. working conditions may be exposed to infections and contagious diseases. Regularly exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases. Exposed to hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids and wastes. Exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment. Subject to burns and cuts. Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit elements.
Required Schooling / Training
- High school or G.E.D.
