Junior Sous Chef

What you'll be doing

The hiring company is currently looking for a talented and experienced junior sous chef to support the culinary team at hotel. This position will partner strongly with the exec chef and exec sous chef to oversee the dinner service and prep for the following days service this will be a primarily evening/closing shift. So Jr. sous chef needs to assist the executive chef and executive sous chef in managing the day to day operations of the kitchen and its employees. And performs other duties as assigned.

What your background should be

The ideal candidate will have strong culinary knowledge and kitchen experience with the proven ability to lead a crew and maintain the culinary vision .1-2 years previous sous chef or kitchen supervisory experience. Ability to work all stations in kitchen. Previous banquet and/or catering experience. Proven ability to supervise performance of kitchen staff, prioritize, organize and delegate work assignments. Proven experience managing inventory and all food safety guidelines. Proficiency with Windows based Word & Excel programs. Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English (speak, read, write) with guests, co-workers and management to their understanding. Food handling certificate. Culinary arts degree from accredited school or program preferred. Pastry experience a plus. Previous union experience. Preferred if the ability to communicate in a second language, preferably Spanish. Sanitation certificate. Previous culinary experience in a hotel environment.
