What you'll be doing
- Perform inspection of the dietary department to ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of the department based on facility guideline and state law and regulation. Oversee the dietary department budget and operate department in conjunction with budgetary expectation. Recruit, select and orient qualified team member for the dietary department. Work as an interdisciplinary team member to complete MDS assessment and progress note. Conduct nutritional assessment on resident to ensure resident need are addressed and fulfilled. Oversee menu preparation, nourishment and supplement in accordance with company guideline and state law or regulation; monitor each day to ensure necessary substitution are provided. Monitor the department to ensure food is received, stored and prepared in accordance with guideline and state law and regulation. Interview, hire and manage the dietary staff to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the department. Provide expectation and monitor performance of dietary department. Assist with assess, develop and implement the nutritional plan of care for resident. Assist with providing education to the family and resident on nutrition as needed. Partner with registered dietitian to accurately prepare for resident meal. Visit family or resident upon admission to discuss food or meal preference and need. Attend meeting related to resident care and dietary activity. Enter new admission information in computer. Make round to understand resident need and to determine way of improving dietary department activity. Order food and supply based on company budget from preferred vendor. Reconcile invoice and maintain financial information accurately and timely. Monitor and change diet tray card for accuracy and to meet resident need. Assist in preparation of the meal as needed. Conduct weight audit at least on a monthly basis. Conduct weight check at least on a weekly basis. Monitor process for labeling food and inventory to ensure fresh stock. Assist with arranging event and celebration as needed. Assist in the dietary department with food preparation, distribution and cleaning, as needed.
What your background should be
- One year experience in a health care dining services department or other large establishment; minimum of one year supervisory experience. Need to accurately and easily communicate standards and cooking methods to staff, give orders and speak with customers clearly. Strong influencing and negotiating skills. Problem solving and decision making skills.
