What you'll be doing

Mentor and lead staff accountants towards best in class performance. Oversee the reconciliation of fixed asset and inventory subsidiary ledgers to the GL monthly. Resolve any resulting discrepancy discovered. Ensure that all fixed asset additions, transfers, disposals and impairments are appropriately accounted for. Initiate research, identify the business or operational issues that affect the company's fixed assets, as well as recommend ways of improving the existing system and processes. Prepare monthly fluctuation analyses on changes in the fixed assets, inventory and accumulated depreciation accounts and communicate findings and recommendations to senior management. Prepare audit schedules and resolve audit issues identified by external auditors, prepare depreciation and other fixed asset related entry adjustments. Perform and assumes other duties and responsibilities as may be required by immediate supervisor. Plan and manage the various functions and personnel of the department to work toward the overall goal of providing pertinent, accurate and timely financial information to management and other parties in accordance with, IFRS, securities laws and company policy.

What your background should be

Candidate should have 5+ years of general accounting experience required. Experience in inventory, fixed assets, project accounting, AP, GL, etc. is preferred. Previous management experience required including successful experience with staff development. Industry (or similar) experience and international experience is a plus. Demonstrates the capacity to manage changing priorities and ambiguity while remaining calm and controlled in a highly complex environment. Advanced Microsoft Office skills required including strong working knowledge of Excel. Excellent communication skills required.
