What you'll be doing
- Engage park visitors to enhance their experience and promote the variety of ways they can get involved with the client company. Educate park visitors about the companies history, ecology, design, cultural significance and respectful use of the park. Resolve complaints or issues in a professional and timely manner, communicating effectively at all times and maintaining a positive demeanor. Evaluate the effectiveness of the discovery guide program by conducting user surveys, maintaining visitor statistics and collecting visitor feedback. Monitor trails, landscapes and other park areas via foot, bicycle and motorized cart to provide assistance to visitors, notifying enforcement as necessary. Support conservancy public programs by leading or helping to lead public education programs and recreation opportunities.
What your background should be
- 2+ years professional experience working in education or customer service or relations. Must be able to speak, read and write fluently in English. Have a valid NYS driving license. Strong customer-service skills, with the ability to be a positive, professional representative of the client company, even in challenging situations. Excellent communication skills and a desire to work with a diverse public audience of New Yorkers and visitors from around the world. Ability to educate a broad audience using both formal and informal methods (i.e. conversations and formal programs or tours). Flexible, organized, team player with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Familiarity with desktop and mobile technologies, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Candidate must be willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and comply with the policies of the client company, including the prescribed dress code.
Required Schooling / Training
- Bachelor degree.
