Certified Peer Support Specialist

What you'll be doing
- Provide individuals with opportunities to support, mentor and assist consumers to achieve company inclusion, participation, independence, recovery, resiliency and/or productivity. Utilize services and supports to achieve their personal goals of the company membership, independence and productivity. Gain trust and respect of other consumers based on shared experience and perspective with disabilities and with planning and negotiating human services systems. Facilitate consumers in acquiring and practicing all activities of daily life. Work closely with persons who have psychiatric disabilities. Provide assistance in accessing therapy and/or activity groups when clinically indicated by treatment team assessment. Provide consumer support in the event of psychiatric crisis. Maintain consumer confidentially at all times. Attend team meetings and receives assignments from supervisor. Work with other team members. Assist team members with transporting consumer to scheduled appointments.
What your background should be
- Experience as a recipient of mental health services. Valid Michigan driving license. Ability to work closely with persons with mental or physical limitations. Ability to report and record information regarding consumer dreams and desires verbally and in writing.
Required Schooling / Training
- High school diploma
