What your background should be
- Previous experience in medical office or health care setting preferred. Medical assistant certification preferred. Demonstrated ability in taking patient vitals, performing injection/immunization procedures, charting and documentation, exam room preparation, infectious waste handling, knowledge of sterile techniques, routine lab procedures and collection. Oral communication skills needed to develop patient rapport discuss orders with patients and patient's family, pharmacies, message taking and communicate effectively with patients regarding the course of their care. Written communication skills necessary for charting and documentation. Must be able to write legibly and demonstrate spelling competency. Demonstrated ability in handling patient confidentiality. Ability to work with peers in a team situation. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Demonstrated ability to perform BLS per the American heart association.
Required Schooling / Training
- Graduate of an accredited medical assistant training program or equivalent.
