What you'll be doing
- Order all products for the bakery department. Seek out new and exciting bakery products and create and negotiate price bids. Maintain a good working relationship with the regional bakery coordinator and buyer and participate in regional promotional programs. Control spoilage, achieve margin goals, and support the team leader and associate team leader in conducting inventories. Maintain financial profitability by meeting and exceeding margin and sales targets. Maintain accurate purchase journals and process invoices and credits. Educate customers and team members about bakery products. Maintain a clean and organized back stock area. Follow and comply with established procedures, including weights and measures, health and sanitation, and adhere to safe work practices. Operate and sanitize all equipment in a safe and proper manner.
What your background should be
- A minimum two years of retail bakery experience or the equivalent. Analytical ability and proficiency in math sufficient to calculate margins, monitor profitability, and manage inventory. Knowledge of bakery products and industry trends. Must be able to read and write in English. Demonstrated proficiency in the proper use of a baler, dumpster, slicers, mixers, ovens, knives and all related equipment.
