What you'll be doing

Maintain a standard of superior service to all customers, fosters and maintains positive relationships, and works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students. Provide the highest level of customer service and answer student and parent inquiries regarding their financial status. Process student payments as well as assist with month-end bank reconciliations as needed. Manage/follow-up on collection activity on past due balances, assess/review all accounts on an on-going basis for accuracy; submit delinquent accounts to an outside agency. Prepare and process student refunds driven by financial aid disbursements and drops/withdrawals. Pro-actively assist students and families in developing a plan of action to cover unmet financial need. Maintain current knowledge of financial aid and registrar processes and how they relate to the student accounts function, especially as this relates to the use of the Jenzabar administrative software. Recommend improvements in systems, processes and procedures that will increase customer satisfaction and the efficiencies of the department. Monitor on-line payment activity on a daily basis, resolve issues noted in a timely manner. Some evenings and weekends will be required as well as flexibility in schedule during the week. Supervise accounting clerks and work-study students in the performance of their billing-related duties.

What your background should be

Demonstrated success in managing the functions listed in the above job duties. Proficiency with MS Office Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Ability to successfully use database applications such as access. Experience with Jenzabar EX administrative software preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; high-level writing skills, ability to professionally address groups with poise and diplomacy.
